Question : What is Sexual Immorality?

Answer:

Sexual immorality is simply referring to sexual sin or impurity. It is one of those acts of ungodliness greatly condemned by the bible especially in the New Testament. It is often referred to as fornication or adultery. It is regard as immorality because it is often done out of Gods prescribed manner of having it. It takes place when an unmarried person engages in sexual acts or a married person engaging in it outside the scriptural marriage boundaries.

From the beginning, God has created a legitimate way of engaging in sex, by instituting marriage. So that every man or woman would have a partner with whom sex can be legitimate. So Jesus calling the people of his days into reminder said to them, and he answered and said unto them, have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female. And said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Matthew 19:4-5. So God himself instituted marriage for man to live in sexual purity.

The word translated “sexual Immorality” is from the Hebrew word porneia. From where comes the English word pornography, it also means fornication, idolatry and whoredom. It literally translates into giving in to sexual impurity, which is against Gods command.

The new testament has more accurate words and warnings against it, there we understand that every other sin that a man commits is outside the body but that fornication or adultery is a sin against the body and our body is the temple of the living God. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are GOD’S. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20.

The sin against the body seems to be of more grief to God because it is not only a sin against your own body, but much more a violation of Gods temple and God frowns at it. He whole desire is for man to live holily and righteously for him. His relationship with man can only remain cordial when righteousness is in place. He is too holy to behold sin, his person abhors it. No one who engages in sexual sin will ever be able to stand in his presence. Paul speaking from the 9th verse of the 6th chapter of the same first book of Corinthians said, know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

God ordained sex only to be enjoyed between two people who have been bound to live the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. It is sacred so God designed it to be a gift only to married people, and until death do them part, none of them is permitted to engage in it outside the home.
